Next Weekend Crappie USA Returns To Alabama's Weiss Lake
Coming up next weekend Crappie USA Inc., "America's Premier National Crappie Fishing Tournament Organization" will return to Alabama's Weiss Lake "The Crappie Capital of the World" March 3, 2012. Anglers will be fishing for a 7-fish limit of crappie, which could net them a check along with the opportunity to advance to the Cabela's Crappie USA Classic, the most prestigious event in crappie fishing today. This year's classic will be held October 24th-27th, 2012 on the Barkley/Kentucky Lakes at Cadiz, Kentucky.

CCA Texas Takes Bold Step in Opening Cedar Bayou

Aransas County, Texas - The Coastal Conservation Association Texas recently announced a $500,000 matching grant to initiate a new push in generating the funding to open Aransas County's Cedar Bayou and Vincent Slough. After decades of negative impacts from siltation and low water flows, an estimated $6.5M effort will be required to open the vital connection from Mesquite and Aransas Bays to the Gulf of Mexico.

Three New VT State Record Fish Caught in 2011

The waters of Vermont continue to prove just how productive they can be for the trophy angler. In 2011, three new state records were established for burbot, pumpkinseed sunfish and white sucker.

In February 2011, Patrick Woodward caught the first state record fish of the year, a 5.63-pound Burbot from Lake Champlain.
