ODFW to host family fishing event at Mt. Hood Pond

CLACKAMAS, Ore. — Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is hosting a Family Fishing event Saturday, May 19 at Mt. Hood Pond in Gresham.
This event is part of the ODFW Outdoors program and is designed to introduce young people and their families to the sport of trout fishing. The department will loan out rods, reels, and tackle to individuals who are learning to fish or do not have their own gear. Participants are welcome to bring their own equipment if they prefer. The department will also provide bait.

Greenbrier River Trail induction to Rail-Trail Hall of Fame, June 2

MARLINTON, W.Va. – The Greenbrier River Trail will join the ranks of the Katy Trail State Park in Missouri, the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes and Route of the Hiawatha in Idaho, and Vermont's Island Line and the Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail in Florida, as one of the premier rail-trails in America. Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) is pleased to announce that the Greenbrier River Trail, a West Virginia state park, will be inducted into the Rail-Trail Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 2, according to Jake Lynch, Communications Manager of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC).

WVDNR stocking catchable channel catfish

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) is stocking more than 8,000 catchable-size channel catfish during the week of May 14, according to WVDNR Director Frank Jezioro. This popular stocking program provides fishing opportunities at popular and accessible lakes across the state.

Barr Lake State Park Hosts Summer Canoe Class

BRIGHTON, Colo. - If you've ever wanted to try the tranquil and picturesque waters at Barr Lake State Park in a canoe, the American Canoe Association will provide a certified instructor to teach the basic skills and safety techniques on three weekends this summer. The park will supply everything else that you need for the class, including the canoe, a personal floatation device and paddles.
